What is The Bridge?
The Bridge is a celebration of the 5th graders’ transition from elementary ministry to youth ministry. It is designed to encourage the 5th graders, to instruct them as they approach their middle-school years, and to provide a memorable experience for them and their mentor.
What will my child do?
Both boys and girls will participate in fun activities, embark on a “journey” where they will receive encouragement and instruction from mentors, share a group meal, and receive a special gift to commemorate their transition.
5th grade boys will be going to Promiseland Park on May 31 for an afternoon of paintballing, an adventure hike, and a bonfire. Boys are encouraged to bring an adult same-sex mentor of their choosing to celebrate with them, such as a parent or sibling. After a dinner, they will have their photos taken, and receive memorable gifts to commemorate this transition. They will also hear from coaches, pastors, and youth leaders who will speak into their lives about topics like making wise choices, choosing friends, modesty, bravery, and God’s call on their lives.
